Fine, juicy, elegant… the pear is an exceptional fruit from the Coteaux du Lyonnais. Thanks to a rich terroir and generous sunshine, our pears have a high sugar content, a guarantee of gustatory pleasure and naturalness. Long set aside in favor of apples or citrus fruits in winter, pears are now experiencing a real revival, driven by consumers’ desire to rediscover seasonal, good fruits grown close to home.
A history of transmission and commitment
Once very present in the orchards of the region, the pear had lost its place in the face of market demands.
But things are changing. Thanks to a new generation of consumers and chefs in search of authentic flavours, the pear is regaining its letters of nobility. At SICOLY®, new plantings are emerging, marking the return of this refined fruit to our cooperative orchards with a recognized terroir that is perfectly suited to the cultivation of this fruit.
Varieties chosen for their taste
SICOLY® pears are mainly from the Williams, Comice, Harrow varieties etc. Known for their melting, sweet and fragrant flesh. Each fruit is grown according to demanding agricultural practices, harvested when ripe, then cooled quickly in order to preserve all its organoleptic qualities.
A Baby Food labelled production for Blédina®
Since the 1990s, SICOLY® has been working in partnership with Blédina® to supply fresh pears for processing into baby food jars. This collaboration is based on extremely rigorous Baby Food specifications :
