The apple

Between fruit tradition and responsible innovation

The apple is much more than an everyday fruit: it is a symbol of seasonality, naturalness and greed, which the SICOLY cooperative is committed to promoting with commitment. Thanks to a strong foothold in the Coteaux du Lyonnais, and a dynamic of continuous varietal research, our producers grow apples that are both tasty, resistant and in line with current environmental expectations.

Ariane Les Naturianes®: SICOLY’s® signature variety

The Ariane Les Naturianes® apple is a variety that is naturally resistant to diseases, which considerably limits treatments in the orchard. It embodies the alliance of taste and respect for the environment:

  • Crunchy and juicy,
  • Sweet and tangy,
  • Perfect for chewing as well as cooking.

As a pioneer in this production in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, SICOLY is multiplying replanting projects and distributing this variety via SICODIS, an approved distributor in the region.

A wide range of varieties for all uses

SICOLY also grows a range of varieties that are well known to consumers and professionals:

  • Golden : sweet, melting, ideal for cooking and tasting.
  • Gala : sweet, very aromatic, prized fresh.
  • Fuji : crunchy, juicy, very popular as a healthy snack.
  • Canada : rustic and fragrant, perfect for pies.
  • Granny Smith : tangy and tonic, ideal for salty and sweet.

Zero waste, 100% recovery

In a circular economy logic, SICOLY® values all of its production. Granny Smiths that do not meet the aesthetic standards of the fresh market are entirely transformed into frozen fruit puree for gastronomy professionals. A concrete way to reduce food waste, while guaranteeing high quality products, with an intense taste and faithful to the fresh fruit.

Coming from a line of producers who have been present for several generations in the commune, he grew up between his grandparents' orchards, before joining the family GAEC alongside his parents for nearly 20 years. On an individual farm for 10 years, he now perpetuates this agricultural tradition with a vision resolutely turned towards the future.
